Beginning through her dance pursuits, Miya has had the privilege and blessing of a lifetime of artistic and creative passions. In tattooing, she began exploring the convergence of her dance experience and illustrative art. She prioritizes placement and movement flow in her tattoos, and in designing over top photos of clients unique body part musculature and structure from the start, Miya draws each tattoo while imagining its form of expression through how it dances and moves with your body. In shaping the pieces this way, Matsui is honored to create a celebration of each persons beautiful, individual body and spirit. Her tattoo and art focuses are bold black work contrasted with softer details, strong linework, movement-based botanicals and sea plants, conceptual pieces exploring identity and heritage, and neo traditional Japanese.
